74: Daniel Bryan’s Grease, Grunge, & Groin Shots

December 7, 2018

The Wrestleboys are back with a real quick and breezy episode covering the last week in pro wrestling!

Including: the nasty grease man champion Daniel Bryan’s environmentalist evil and top-notch misandry parenting, a slight rebound for Monday Night Raw from out of the toilet and into the garbage, the beginning of NXT’s build toward NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, and the wild world of WWE’s constant signing of independent and free agent wrestlers!

73: The Summer of Boys (or, Raw Sucked Fuckin’ Shit, Y’all)

December 1, 2018

72: I Absolve You of Your Piss

November 25, 2018

The ‘boys run down the super loaded previous week in the world of pro wrestling! Including NXT TakeOver: WarGames II, Survivor Series 2018, and the fallout from those events on Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, 2015 Live, NXT, and NXT UK!

71: Just Fuck Me Up, Becky Lynch

November 16, 2018

The world belongs to Becky Lynch and her bloody face and we’re all just fortunate to live in it.

The ‘boys are joined by Jenna Kieta to talk a shockingly big week in pro wrestling leading into Survivor Series and NXT TakeOver: WarGames this weekend! We also introduce a new segment to the show, tentatively titled We Teach Derek About Something He Missed In Wrestling where, well, we basically do exactly what the title suggests. On this first edition of the segment, we’re teaching Derek all about probably the most infamous and one of the most important events in wrestling history: The Montreal Screwjob! Including the events leading up to it, how it all went down, and the massive impact it had on the entire wrestling world, not only at the time, but going forward all the way up to today as well!

Topics on this episode include:
Becky Lynch’s invasion of Monday Night Raw, her busted and bloody face, the iconic moment resulting from it, how we should talk about Nia Jax injuring Becky and how to not be a complete dickhead about it, the fallout from that injury changing plans for Survivor Series, and what this all could mean for Becky’s white hot momentum right now going forward. Daniel Bryan is WWE Champion, and not only that, but he turned heel in the process! NXT TakeOver: WarGames is this weekend, and that’s great because NXT is great and TakeOver is always the best, so we preview what we might see this weekend. We also preview Survivor Series and the weird dream matches we’re going to see there, including Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan.

70: Matt Does the Disturbed Noise

November 9, 2018

Can you feel that? Ah, dang! OH! AH! AH! AH! AH! Get up, come on get down with the Wrestleboys as we talk the week in the world of professional wrestling!

69: Nice.

November 2, 2018

Jenna Kieta and Katie McBeth join us to talk X-Pac’s ripped butthole, the amazing Evolution PPV, the dumpster fire that none of us will watch Crown Jewel PPV, Carly Rae Jepsen’s new single, plus the last week in wrestling, including the debuting King of Bros Matt Riddle, the beginning of the build to NXT Takeover: War Games and Survivor Series, and lots of other stuff!

But most importantly, again, 69 BROS!!!

68: Weird Flex, But Okay…

67: Meet Big Dave

October 19, 2018

The ‘boys may be down Esai as he is off in Parts Unknown this week, but don’t worry y’all, because Big Dave Bautista, aka Batista, is back baby (oh, and so is Rey Mysterio)!

In celebration of the reuniting of Evolution, Matt and Zack teach Derek about the history of the group and what makes them so significant. Zack recaps the amazing PROGRESS Chapter 76: Hello, Wembley! show. The ‘boys feel bitter about WWE focus and lack-thereof on two different upcoming shows. And of course, they break down the week in wrestling.

Including: Yet another largely forgettable episode of Raw, with Ronda Rousey’s garbage promo that belongs in the toilet, Drew McIntyre’s Claymore murder of Braun Strowman, and not much else. The very good 100th episode of SmackDown, with the reunion of Evolution (even though they were never originally on SmackDown), Batista calling out HHH, The Bar beating The New Day for the tag titles, and Rey Mysterio’s full-time return to the WWE and his match against Shinsuke Nakamura. Yet another good episode of 205 Live we all largely forgot to watch. The great co-main events of NXT, with Bobby Fish’s return to save The Undisputed Era, and Nikki Cross and Bianca Belair interrupted by a fairly peeved Aleister Black. The debut of NXT UK and our initial impressions of this new show. Finally, this week’s heartbreaking episode of The Mae Young Classic, with the explosion of Tegan Nox’s knee.

BONUS EPISODE: Interview with Matt and Ryan from The Sidekicks

October 16, 2018

We’ve got a bonus episode for all of you this week! In case you missed it, go back and hear our interview from the last episode with Matt and Ryan from The Sidekicks (but without all the other Wrestleboy nonsense).

Derek and Zack had the chance last week to sit down in the van with Matt Climer (aka Sanders) and Ryan Starinsky (aka Mud), the drummer and bass players of the wonderful band The Sidekicks and talk about wrestling before their show here in Boise with Tigers Jaw and Cherry! We talk about the origins of their love for wrestling, watching wrestling while on the road, wrestling music, and a bunch more!

66: Boys After Dark (ft. The Sidekicks)

October 12, 2018

The ‘boys have a whole lot to cover this week, but they may just be up to the task, friends! They get into NJPW’s King of Pro Wrestling event and the utter chaos going on over there in the ring and backstage, WWE’s Super Show-Down event in Australia and the fallout from that show moving toward SmackDown 1000, the Evolution PPV, and the morally gross Crown Jewel event. They also cover 205 Live’s new debuts, and amazing episodes of NXT and the Mae Young Classic Tournament!

Toward the end of the episode, the ‘boys go back in time to when Derek and Zack had the chance earlier this week to sit down in the van with Matt Climer (aka Sanders) and Ryan Starinsky (aka Mud), the drummer and bass players of the wonderful band The Sidekicks and talk about wrestling before their show here in Boise with Tigers Jaw and Cherry! We talk about the origins of their love for wrestling, watching wrestling while on the road, wrestling music, and a bunch more!

Check out The Sidekicks and catch them on tour near you! Listen to their new album, Happiness Hours on Spotify or wherever you listen to music!

65: The Conductor Among Trains

October 5, 2018

The Wrestleboys are back and talking about all the types of trains that there is! Runaway. Thomas. Drops of Jupiter Band. Gravy. All the types! Fittingly, we also repackage Braun Strowman into the gimmick he belongs in: Mr. Conductor from the Thomas & Friends TV show!

Oh, and I guess they also talk about a whole lot of wrestling. Including: Results of NJPW’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed event. All Raw’s belts, but just one feud. Kevin Owens and Elias’ SuperSonic Seattle Heel Heat. Konnor’s big-time push. Raw old men fights. Law-abiding Samoa Joe. Becky Lynch’s cool poster we all want to hang on our bedroom wall. Rusev Day, Milwaukee Night. We can’t keep doing this (hitting your head), Daniel Bryan. The year of Cedric Alexander. When does EC3’s spray tan start to become racially insensitive? Lacy Evans’ shitty white person gimmick and shittier white person food. The perfection of this year’s Mae Young Classic Tournament. Match-of-the-year contender Meiko Satomura vs. Mercedes Martinez. What to expect at this weekend’s WWE Super Show-Down event in Australia!

Thanks for listening! Happy not-Rusev Day!

64: Boys Mode

September 27, 2018

The ‘boys go Boys Mode. Daddy’s home.

63: A Family Can Be Ten Dads. That’s It, Just Ten Dads With No Kids.

September 22, 2018

Esai was off in Parts Unknown this week so we’ve got a regular Three Dog Pod on our hands!

Derek, Matt, and Zack talk about who they would want or not want in their wrestling family, news from this week including Rey Mysterio’s reportedly imminent return to WWE, and break down a very busy week in wrestling, including:

Last week’s good-until-it-really-wasn’t Hell in a Cell PPV. This week’s RAW and SmackDown. The first episode of this year’s Mixed Match Challenge. Another week of the first round in the Mae Young Classic Tournament. And finally some episodes with BUCK WILD main events for 205 Live and NXT.

62: On a Scale of 6 to 9…

September 14, 2018

The ‘boys are finally visited by Doctor Blurg!

After months and months of anticipation, Doctor Blurg (aka Bran, aka Vince) comes onto Genuine Wrestleboys for a face-to-face confrontation. Well, maybe more like a face-to-Skype or voice-to-voices. And probably more of a super awesome and friendly discussion about wrestling than a confrontation. You get the point!

Blurg & The ‘Boys™ talk about Bran’s wrestling fandom, why they even bother listening to the show, rate things on a scale of 6 to 9, and why they “haven’t worn” the very good Wrestleboys shirt that they won.

Plus, we have the conclusion of the 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament with a true dream match in our finals: Eddie Guerrero vs. Daniel Bryan!

Oh, and also there’s a bunch of actual discussion of this week in wrestling. Highlights include: The go-home episodes of Raw and SmackDown before this weekend’s Hell In A Cell PPV. Previewing Hell In A Cell. We all just want good things for Kevin Owens. Jeff Hardy’s imminent hip, back, and/or full-body explosion via big dumb swanton. Samoa Joe, please read me a bedtime story about tearing apart my family. Previewing NJPW’s annual “The Name Of This Show Makes Me Feel Uncomfortable But There’s Probably Something Lost In Translation” event, Destruction In Hiroshima.

You can follow Bran on Twitter: @doctorblurg, and on Instagram: @brennanithink!

Happy Rusev Day Everyone!

61: Jonathan Failure Thomas

September 10, 2018

Esai and Jenna are back from ALL IN! Things start with Macho Man impressions and end with, well, still Macho Man impressions, but also the Braun Strowman/Garfield crossover nobody was asking for and even some non-Rey Mysterio P.O.D. talk!

In between, the ‘boys and Jenna talk the weird but somewhat unsubstantial week on RAW and SmackDown, the post-Takeover rebuilding of NXT storylines, and the FANTASTIC first episode of the 2018 Mae Young Classic Tournament!

Speaking of classics, we also get through the semi-final round The 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament and have our finals now set! The matchups this week are: Kenny Omega vs. Daniel Bryan AND Johnny Gargano vs. Eddie Guerrero!

Happy Rusev Day!

60: Dead Dick Rising (Bonus ALL IN Live Reaction Episode

September 3, 2018

The Wrestleboys watched ALL IN and give their reactions to it! First, you’ll hear Derek, Matt, Zack, and special guest Katie McBeth’s live reactions throughout the show as they watched the iPPV stream of it from Katie and Matt’s home in Boise Idaho, including reactions to many of the night’s biggest moments literally as they happened!

Next, you will hear from people who were actually in Chicago at ALL IN as Esai gives his thoughts the day after the event and is joined by Jenna Kieta and Mike Brown to give their thoughts after seeing it go down in person!

59: I Wish I Knew How To Quit You, Kevin

August 30, 2018

The ‘boys are back with a bit of a half-sleepy/half-wired episode filled with a real weird energy if we’re being totally honest. Despite that, they manage to run through this week in wrestling, including:

The baffling heel vs. face dynamics going on with both Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns on RAW and Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair on SmackDown. “Straight Fire” Becky Lynch’s “Stone Cold” level potential. Baron Corbin vs. Paperwork. Returning nostalgia acts on the build to the Evolution PPV, the shittiness of using a male wrestler in Elias to build heat for a women’s feud of Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus that doesn’t need any help doing that on its own, and the pros, cons, and unnecessary hate thrown at The Bella Twins. Samoa Joe’s Violence BBQ. Plus, a whole lot of great from 205 Live and NXT as well!

Also, Zack geeks out over PROGRESS Wrestling and the multi-year Jimmy Havoc vs. Will Ospreay feud that came to an end this week. We look at the Mae Young Classic 2018 brackets. Finally, we preview All In ahead of Esai going to Chicago to see the biggest indie show in recent history in person!

58: The Summer of BRO

August 24, 2018

BRO! BRO! BRO! BRO! BRO! Get ready, because the ‘boys are FEELIN’ IT this week! Aka, this episode STARTS with Derek singing Hinder and pretty much stays at that level. The ‘boys get into the huge weekend we had in wrestling with the chef-kiss perfection of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4, the mystifyingly specific and consistent booking of SummerSlam, plus the fallout this week on Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live, as well as a look ahead to what we’ll be seeing soon on NXT!

Including: A competently-booked babyface Roman Reigns Universal Title victory?! A BRO sighting! The Super Kick Murder of Ricochet by the Undisputed Adam Cole! Our Pirate Princess ascending the throne! Johnny Failure! Zack’s Good Demon Dreams! WENDY! “Stone Cold” Becky Lynch! Kevin’s burial! Some new champs! Some old friends! And the HUGE RETURN of our good ol’ Braun’s Gravy Fingees & Double Toilet bit!

57: Unfuckable Randy’s Nasty Dick Hands

August 18, 2018

This is another big ol’ episode this week, but hey, there’s a whole lotta things to talk about! The Wrestleboys are joined by Jenna Kieta and Katie McBeth to look back at the week in wrestling. We discuss Dave Meltzer’s shitty sexist comments, the overall response to them, and the double standard women in wrestling are held to compared to their male counterparts. We also talk about the unsurprisingly terrible and abusive dick-centric ongoing behavior of Randy Orton that came to light this week. Finally, the ‘boys look ahead to the big weekend in wrestling by previewing NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 and SummerSlam!

Happy Rusev Day!

56: Bask in the Classic

August 10, 2018

Bask in our episode length, friends, because this is our longest episode ever, and that’s right, it’s mostly about R-Truth.

We also find some time to talk about Paul Heyman’s Oscar-bait segment of Raw, a former “Heyman Guy” being a very bad friend and disappointing us all, the excellent tag-team main event of SmackDown, big changes happening in NXT with only 1 week left before Takeover: Brooklyn 4, whether EC3 and Velveteen Dream wanna fuck or fight each other, the NXT debut of the best big big boy Keith Lee, get caught up on the G1 Climax Tournament in NJPW, and spend a bunch of time going through all 32 competitors in this year’s Mae Young Classic Tournament, plus more!

We also get back to a Classic of our own with the next 4 matchups in our 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament! The matchups this week are: Katsuyori Shibata vs. Johnny Gargano, William Regal vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Matt Riddle vs. Pete Dunne, and Kenny Omega vs. CM Punk.

Happy Rusev Day! We love you!

55: Pipe Blurg

August 4, 2018

The ‘boys get called out! The ‘boys respond with a little help from a very strange mix of friends! They also talk about this week in wrestling! They also spend a ton of time talking about very serious social justice issues! They continue the Wrestleboys Classic Tournament with the following matchups! Kyle O’Reilly vs. Kevin Owens! Daniel Bryan vs. Ricochet! Kazuchika Okada vs. Adam Cole! Eddie Guerrerro vs. Tetsuya Naito!

54: Evolution is a Herstory

July 30, 2018

Sorry for the late episode, everyone! The ‘boys are joined by Jenna Kieta and Katie McBeth to talk about the last week in wrestling, including Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary PPV, WWE announcing their first-ever all women Evolution PPV, major changes in NXT, and the beginning of the road towards SummerSlam and NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4! We also finish up the first round of the 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament with our final four matchups: CM Punk vs. Aleister Black, Tomohiro Ishii vs. Fit Finlay, Cody (Rhodes) vs. Johnny Gargano, and Edge vs. Pete Dunne!

53: FUCK ‘EM!

July 21, 2018

Chris, aka Todd, Chrisley? FUCK ‘EM! Extreme Rules? FUCK ‘EM! Horrendous writing for the WWE’s women’s division, especially Sasha Banks and Bayley? FUCK ‘EM! Huge NXT spoilers? FUCK ‘EM! WWE pulling the rug out from interesting booking by likely undoing it the very next night? FUCK ‘EM! A racist piece of shit hot dog goblin fossil of a man being forgiven for something he’s never adequately apologized for? FUCK ‘EM!!!!!

Inspired by Bad Luck Fale’s new hit catchphrase of the Summer 2018, and full of a whole lotta piss and vinegar, the ‘boys are joined again by Jenna Kieta to discuss all the above reasons wrestling is making us mad this week. Don’t worry though, because the 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament is here to save the day and keep the fun alive! We keep the first round going with our next four match ups: Katsuyori Shibata vs. Shawn Michaels, Matt Riddle vs. Jimmy Havoc, William Regal vs. Nick Jackson, and Kenny Omega vs. Bret Hart!

Happy Rusev Day! FUCK ‘EM!

52: Extreme Chili’s Wrestling & Grill & Bar

July 12, 2018

What do Zack, Esai, and Asuka all have in common? They’ve all experienced pepper spray. Except, the Wrestleboys both did so as children inside a now-demolished Chili’s in what could only be described as the strangest coincidental shared experience in history, and Asuka’s was in the ring this week on SmackDown.

Besides shared childhood trauma, the ‘boys also discuss last week’s New Japan show in San Francisco, Brock Lesnar being the absent dad of a wrestling champ he really is and showing up in the UFC (aka the family he left yours for), and preview WWE’s Extreme Rules PPV this coming Sunday!

They also continue working through the first round of the 2018 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament! The matchups this week are: Kevin Owens vs. Thommaso Ciampa, Ricochet vs. Andre the Giant, Nick Gage vs. Adam Cole, and Finn Balor vs. Tetsuya Naito!

Happy Rusev Day!

51: Countdown to Cow Castle

July 7, 2018

The ‘boys are back and so The Wrestleboys Classic Tournament! Join in as they talk about the week in wrestling, preview NJPW’s show in San Francisco this weekend at the historic Cow Palace, and run through the first four matchups of The Second Annual Wrestleboys Classic Tournament! This week’s matchups are: Joey Ryan vs. Daniel Bryan, Will Ospreay vs. Kyle O’Reilly, Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Eddie Guerrero vs. AJ Styles!

50: The Wrestleboy Shakeup Draft

July 3, 2018

Sorry for the late episode, y’all! Zack has been moving and forgot what box he’d packed up his internet in. Oops! This is the one-year anniversary episode of Genuine Wrestleboys! So, strap in and get ready for some of the same stuff you’ve come to expect because time is a made up construct of human folly! Jk, we talk about all the wrestling that happened last week, but more importantly, WE HAVE OUR DRAFT FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL WRESTLEBOYS CLASSIC TOURNAMENT!

49: Is Boys a Sandwich?

June 22, 2018

Brady Savageau of HeaterWrestling.com joins the ‘boys again to discuss Big Cass’ firing, NXT Takeover: Chicago II, Money in the Bank, the sad passing of Vader, Derek’s controversial (wrong) sandwich opinions, and more!

June 15, 2018

Brady Savageau of HeaterWrestling.com joins the ‘boys once again to talk about the stellar NJPW Dominion Show, New Japan vs. WWE, preview this weekend’s NXT Takeover: Chicago and Money in the Bank PPVs, and most importantly, Baron Corbin’s fancy new haircut!

47: Captain Cuckin’ New Japan

June 8, 2018

The ‘boys are joined again by Jenna Kieta and the whole gang breaks down the week in wrestling, including a quite forgettable week of Raw and SmackDown, NXT and Nikki Cross’ singles push, 205 Live, and the HOT AS HELL finals of NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors 25 Tournament. They debate what wrestlers are the best all-around in history and currently? Finally, “Bret Hart” calls out “Shawn Michaels” and something VERY unexpected happens because of it.

46: Defying Derek

June 2, 2018

Derek saw Defy Wrestling in Portland. We all met a new dog. Ricochet did a big ol’ flip and, in doing so, redefined sexual tension within a wrestling feud. Stuff happened on Raw and SmackDown. Big Cass is the worst. “Bret Hart” issues a stunning challenge! Free real estate!

45: Saditude Era Cena

May 24, 2018

Dave Thomas fucks, John Cena sucks (and is sad about it), and the Attitude Era wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be these a’days. All this and more, this week on Genuine Wrestleboys!

44: Cassford the Sizable Tan Dog

May 18, 2018

Hi! The Wrestleboys are all back together after our episode last week got all eaten up by the dang ol’ computer!

The boys talk about all the goings on in the week of wrestling, including the build up to Money in the Bank, All In sellin’ out like it’s made of hot cakes, The Murder of Big Cass by the Small Man Daniel Bryan, and Zack’s Garbage Sons vs. Pete & His Rowdy Boys.

Hey, we have merch through What a Maneuver! Check it out at whatamaneuver.net or by going to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch. For a chance to win one of our shirts, leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to us and let us know about it! We’ll be selecting a winner in two weeks!

43: My Dear Garbage Son Kyle, Where Is Your Shoe?

May 4, 2018

My garbage son Kyle O’Reilly lost his damn shoe and it is getting more and more difficult to take him anywhere in public. He is surely doing this just to spite me but I can’t help but love him for his title belt air guitar and nasty face.

All the ‘boys are back and they are goofy as heck in this one, y’all! We talk about the week of wrestling leading into yet another PPV (Backlash this time), entrance music that doesn’t fit its wrestler very well, and those nasty Undisputed Era boys’ latest antics. Oh, and unfortunately Bret Hart is with us yet again. He is a curse upon this house and we will seemingly never be rid of him.

Please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to us! If you do and let us know about it, you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of our shirts from What A Maneuver! Go to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch to check those out!

42: They Say The Word “Piss” In This One

April 28, 2018

That’s right, y’all! The ‘boys finally did it! What you’ve all been waiting for. Now say it with us: “Piss.”

Now that we’ve gotten that bit o’ business out of the way, we can concentrate on some non-piss-related goings-on in the world of wrestling! Unfortunately, Matt couldn’t join us this week (blame Derek’s birthday for RUINING EVERYTHING), but for some reason we’re still being haunted by all-time great wrestler, turned Zack’s personal Babadook, Bret Hart. So there’s that, I guess?

The ‘boys talk all about The Greatest Royal Rumble event that went down in Saudi Arabia, the never ending purgatory of Brock Lesnar’s title reign, heel Shinsuke and his rap rock remix, two incredible botches, The Passion of the Bryan, and how to navigate the problematic aspects of being a wrestling fan and trying to balance continuing to push for change while checking our own privilege (oh, and also the normal weekly wrestling stuff too).

We have merch through What a Maneuver now! Go check it out at whatamaneuver.com or by going to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch, and if you’d like to be entered for a chance to win a free shirt just leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and let us know about it!

If you want even more FREE stuff, make sure to go to audibletrial.com/wrestleboyscast to get a free 30-day trial of Audible while supporting Genuine Wrestleboys!

Happy Greatest Rusev Day!

 41: AJ’s Shook Up Balls

April 20, 2018

Quick question: does anyone know a good method for removing a curse/Bret Hart from your home and/or podcast? No reason, just asking for a friend.

The ‘boys are all together once again and are talking about all the shaking up that happened to the Raw and SmackDown rosters this week, how things are looking going into the Big Ol’ RumbleTime (Greatest Royal Rumble) event next week, the new rebuilding phase of NXT and its women’s division, and the death and legacy of the great Bruno Sammartino.

Please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of our new shirts from whatamaneuver.com! To check them out, head over to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch.

Also, don’t forget to go to audibletrial.com/wrestleboyscast to get your FREE 30-day trial of Audible while supporting Genuine Wrestleboys! HELP KEEP THIS FREE!

Happy Rusev Day, everyone!

40: 100% Actual, Literal, Genuine Wrestling Child

April 12, 2018

The ‘boys are breaking down the big ol’ WrestleMania weekend and the subsequent huge nights on TV we all just survived somehow! Unfortunately Esai was off in Parts Unknown and couldn’t join us tonight and tbh Zack is mostly distracted thinking about Nicholas to focus on anything else, but we still give it a shot. Fortunately, returning guest Katie McBeth makes a run-in the episode about halfway through and helps salvage this main event. Too bad that couldn’t have happened at Mania, right y’all?

The ‘boys break down likely one of the best PPVs WWE has ever done in NXT Takeover: New Orleans and one of the most confusing ever in WrestleMania 34. Plus, the big debuts, call-ups, returns, and new job titles that went down on the Raw and SmackDown after WrestleMania!

Genuine Wrestleboys now has merch through What a Maneuver! And we’re giving away a free shirt! To enter for one, please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and let us know about it! To check out the shirts, head over to whatamaneuver.net or follow bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch!

39: Baron’s Google Searches (WrestleMania 34 Preview, ft. Jenna Kieta and Katie McBeth)

April 7th, 2018

It’s WrestleMania 34 Weekend! Don’t worry, your Wrestleboys (with the help of returning guests Jenna Kieta and Katie McBeth) are here to break down and predict Wrestlemania on Sunday, NXT Takeover: New Orleans on Saturaday, and a bunch of the other shows and matches happening during the biggest wrestling week of the year!

Katie gives us her thoughts going into her first ‘Mania weekend as a wrestling fan, we continue to be haunted by the ghoul of old wrestlers who love talking about their own greatness, and we speculate on what questions Baron Corbin seeks answers from Google for.

Make sure to go check out our new merch store and first-ever shirt over at whatamaneuver.net or by going to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch, and if you would like to be entered into our contest for a FREE shirt, please leave us a rating and review on Apple Podcsts and let us know you left one!

38: EX•HAU•STING: Side B(ret Hart)

March 31, 2018

The ‘boys are mysteriously visited (possibly haunted?) by the surprisingly intrusive as he is great Bret “The Hitman” Hart this week! Nobody actually invited him, but nobody can seemingly get him to leave either. The Johns, Laurenitis and Cena, also swing by because once a podcast is off the rails like this, why not just drive it straight into a double toilet while you’re at it?

In the few moments of peace between these visitors, the ‘boys get all caught up on the buck wild developments in pro wrestling since they recorded last, including the return of Daniel Bryan, NJPW’s Strong Style Evolved show and The Young Bucks vs. Golden Lovers match, developments along the road to a very quickly approaching WrestleMania 34 and NXT Takeover: New Orleans, and Zack takes everyone through his way-too-deep dive into some WrestleMania statistics.

Most importantly of all, though, WE HAVE MERCH! Check out our new store and first shirt design on WhatAManeuver.net and get yourself that sweet sweet CRJ x Wrestleboys merch you need by going to bit.ly/wrestleboysmerch.

We’re also doing a shirt giveaway, so if you want to be entered for a chance to win one of our shirts, leave us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts and let us know about it, or if you have left one previously and want to be entered, let us know that you’ve already left one!

37: BummerMania (ft. Jenna Kieta)

March 23, 2018

DISCLAIMER: This episode was recorded ahead of time because we all knew that we’d be way too busy during Treefort Music Fest to record a new episode. Therefore, we don’t talk about any of the MASSIVE things that happened in wrestling this last week. Don’t worry, though, we’ll definitely get to all that next week!

Wrestling can be a pretty big bummer sometimes (again, this was recorded before we knew Daniel Bryan could wrestle again), and there have been some things going on recently that have bummed us out, so we wanted to just spend some time talking through those feelings. It was a cathartic time, y’all.

36: Every Day is Everybody Loves Rusev Ramano Day (ft. Jenna Kieta)

March 18, 2018

Jenna joins the ‘boys again this week to talk about last week’s Fastlane PPV, the week in wrestling, and whatever the fuck that Demon Straight From Toilet Hell Noise was that Shane McMahon made on SmackDown after getting beat up by Sami and Kevin???

35: Gotta Go Fast!

March 11, 2018

Life moves fast. If you don’t slow down once in a while, you’ll totally miss (or just forget) that WWE actually put out any content this week or that the Fastlane PPV is happening.

Esai was unfortunately couldn’t be on the show this week since he was busy working, and that’s a shoot brother brother! The remaining ‘boys talk about a fairly empty week of wrestling content but manage to pick out some gems hidden in that rough. They talk about Braun Strowman and Elias’ big musical battle, Sami Zayn’s breaking point, Tommaso Ciampa’s Fires of Mt. Doom level of heel heat without saying a single word, what entirely predictable results we can expect to see at the FastLane PPV, and speculate wildly on what all this means for WrestleMania coming up in less than a month.

34: 2 HairUp 2B SquareUp (ft. Jenna Kieta, Katie McBeth, and Anja Crocker)

March 4, 2018

Just like a main events of a SmackDown PPV, this episode has arguably way too many people in it but is still a whole lotta fun!

Joining the ‘boys this week are 3 of their tag team partners in life (aka, significant others): Jenna Kieta, Katie McBeth, and Anja Crocker. Way more important than that, though, they are three incredible women who we wanted to talk to about last week’s first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match, their thoughts and feelings about wrestling, their different backgrounds with it, and how glad they all were when this podcast started so the ‘boys all had someone else to talk to about wrestling.

In typical Wrestleboys fashion, we touch on a whole big mess of other stuff that comes up as well, especially a deeper dive into the history of Black wrestlers and the extra struggles that People of Color have had to overcome for recognition in the professional wrestling industry.

33: Love4Gold

February 25, 2018

We didn’t make any Austin Powers 3 jokes in this episode, and that big mistake is truly on us, but Golden Love is back in the wrestling world and that’s joyous, friends.

Unfortunately Esai couldn’t be with us again this week, but we’ll excuse it because of the big big week he had seeing Naito wrestle then driving across the country. The remaining ‘boys talk about Seth Rollins BIG Monday night, the supreme and ongoing lackluster nature of SmackDown, Johnny Wresting’s Kayfabe Farewell, and spend a whoooole lot of time talking the reunion matches between The Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi) in NJPW and queer/LGBTQIA+ representation in pro wrestling today.

Finally, the ‘boys dive into their thoughts about what will happen at WWE’s Elimination Chamber PPV this weekend, the predictability of PPVs following the Royal Rumble, and what this show might set up for Wrestlemania.

32: Drick’s Genuboys Wrestle Wine

February 18, 2018

Esai is off in Parts Unknown watching cool wrestling without us, so this week is a triple threat match that starts kinda rough and goes downhill from there. We mostly talk about Big Braun’s Big Bass and all the other stuff that happened this week in wrestling, and why it gets kinda tough to stay on top of everything in the lead up to Wrestlemania each year.

31: Say “Yes!” to the Wres(tleboys)

February 10, 2018

Back at the start now, please note that this episode starts with an important apology from Derek regarding his actions and overuse of the phrase “Bust a nut” in our last episode. With that business out of the way, the ‘boys go into the last week in wrestling from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, the newly revitalized 205 Live, and Hiromu Takahashi’s Chicken Preparation & Ospreay Feedery™ from NJPW.

After that, the ‘boys spend the rest of the episode discussing the great, though ultimately tragic and abbreviated (for now, at least), career of Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson, the immeasurable importance of his success on the grandest stage possible and the impact that still has on the wrestling industry, and what his legacy is in wrestling.

30: A Royal Nut-Busting (ft. Brady Sauvageau of HeaterWrestling.com)

February 5, 2018

Brady Sauvageau of HeaterWrestling.com returns as our mystery tag team partner in a PACKED Fatal 5-Way episode of Genuine Wrestleboys (our longest episode yet, oops)! We talk about NXT Takeover: Philadelphia, The Royal Rumble, some NJPW, and a whole slew of other stuff that happened in this last BUCK WIIIIIILD week of professional wrestling!

Apologies in advance for how many times the words “bust a nut” were said. It happens sometimes, ya know?

29: Fingee-Lickin’ Good Bucket o’ Gravy-Drink

January 26, 2018

There’s only one question to ask about this episode of Genuine Wrestleboys: Do the ideas discussed within by the ‘boys belong in (a) Jail (for basically being very bad crimes), (b) A Dumpster (filled to the brim with Pepsi), or (c) Braun Strowman’s Special XL Double Toilet (Presented by KFC)? Oh shoot, gang! The answer was actually: (d)All of the above (God forgive us for what we’ve done).

The Wrestleboys talk about this week’s 25th Anniversary Episode of Raw, the non-anniversary episode of SmackDown, and NXT, then preview this weekend’s NXT Takeover: Philadelphia and Royal Rumble PPVs, further discuss last week’s incredible toilet innovations, Braun Strowman’s theoretical KFC activities, sipping Dumpster Pepsi to prevent spills, and invent a new Borat joke!

28: Double Toilet

January 20, 2018

Step 1: toilet. Step 2: Add second toilet. Step 3: PROFIT BAYBAY!

With this episode, your Genuine Wrestleboys present to you maybe our most off the rails, least wrestling focused episode yet. There wasn’t a whole lot to talk about in wrestling this week, so things pretty quickly veer off into talk of multi-toilet pranks/inventions, snorting melatonin to get that GOOD night’s sleep, and what TV shows we would like to see on the WWE Network. Enjoy our toilet crimes and Happy Rusev Day!

27: We Are Derek

January 13, 2018

All four Dereks talk about the last week in wrestling, the upcoming 25th anniversary special Monday Night Raw, some BUCK WILD developments in New Japan Pro Wrestling, and WE FINALLY FINISH THE WRESTLEBOYS CLASSIC TOURNAMENT AND HAVE OUR FIRST CHAMPION!

26: Some Boys, Some Boys! My Wrestle Kingdom 12 For Some Boys!

January 5, 2018

So, here’s the thing, the ‘boys only spend approximately 11 seconds of this episode talking about WWE because everyone knew the main event topic of discussion was gonna go the distance, and it was a sure-thing 6+ Star classic in the making, BROTHER BROTHER!

AKA: New Japan Pro Wrestling done did it again with Wrestle Kingdom 12 and further cemented January 4th as Wrestling Christmas each year. Hear the ‘boys break down the best thing since Sliced Trent(?), which matches they liked, which they liked more, and which they liked most, as well as Beautiful (Fake) Hair, the constant reinvention of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega’s big cosplay gun, and of course, Cheeseburger.

25: The Best There Is/Was/Ever Will Be (of 2017)

December 29, 2017

2017 draws to a close and the dawning of a whole new year of Rusev Days is upon us! The ‘boys got together to talk about their favorite things from the past year of wrestling, what exemplified why we all love wrestling so dang much, what starting this silly podcast this year has meant to each of us, as well as the 1995 film Heavyweights.

Happy Rusev Day, everyone!

24: ‘Twas the Night Before Rusev Day

December 24, 2017

‘Twas the night before Rusev Day, and all through the ring,
Not a wrestler was stirring, not even The Singhs.
The ‘boys got together, to talk this week’s wrestling.
The PPV, and TV, and plot lines developing.
So now we must leave you, with this small delight:
Each day is Rusev Day! And to all a good night!

23: Wrestleboys Meets World

December 9, 2017

Dang, y’all, you might as well call us Doc Brown at the end of Back To The Future Part III because this one really goes off the rails, but where we’re going, we don’t need rails. Because we have a flying train and that’s tight as hell.

We talk about Boy Meets World, My Date With the President’s Daughter, The Pyramids of GIIIIIIIIIIIZA, and also some wrestling, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every day is Rusev Day! Happy Rusev Day!

22: Enjoy Infamy…Great Name

December 2, 2017

The ‘boys are back after a week off and there’s a whole mess of wrestling to talk about. We cover NXT Takeover: War Games, Survivor Series, Paige’s surprise return to Raw and the influx of NXT women called up to the main roster, Velveteen Dream’s VERY GOOD pants, Alexander Wolfe losing approximately ALL of his blood to a couple tables, our next Wrestleboys Classic quarterfinals match of Shawn Michaels vs. Kazuchika Okada, and Esai reminds us all the degree to which Asher Roth enjoyed college.

21: The Ballad of bill.i.am

November 18, 2017

Survivor Series is this weekend, and you know what that means, everyone! Alliances will be formed! Backs will be stabbed! All disbelief will be suspended so you don’t think about the person filming the whole thing! Who will be voted off the island?? Oh, what’s that? Survivor Series is a WWE PPV? Our bad!

We preview this weekend’s Survivor Series and NXT Takeover: War Games, talk about the Black Eyed Peas, Derek won’t shut up about how much he loves Pepsi, and we get to the next match up in the Wrestleboys Classic Tournament: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi!

20:  Oster-Cola vs. CM Pepsi

November 14, 2017

Gonna warn you right now that this episode contains Borat jokes, and unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about it now.

All the Wrestleboys are back together, and recording in some Genuine Comfort. We talk about wrestling audibles and when plans change at the last minute. Matt makes the smoothest segue we’ve ever seen. Zack pets a dog! And we FINALLY get to the bottom of Derek’s soda preferences. Also, EVERY DAY IS RUSEV DAY!

19: U 2 Talkin’ Y2J To Me?

November 7, 2017

Esai and Matt were attacked backstage and couldn’t make this episode, so Derek and Zack are holdin’ down Fort Wrestleboy this week, Solo Bolo style! They talk about Chris Jericho’s shocking appearance on New Japan Pro Wrestling, the wrestling references in Thor: Ragnarok (and some of their favorite wrestling references in pop culture), the wrestlers released by WWE last week, and NXT bringing back War Games for their next TakeOver PPV.

This is some good wrestling…uhh…content.

The song Zack references and plays in the pop culture section is “Does It Make a Sound?” by Aviator, off their latest album, Loneliness Leaves the Light on For Me. You can find Aviator’s music and more info about the band at AviatorMA.com.

18: We Suck! (ft. Brady Sauvageau of HeaterWrestling.com)

October 30, 2017

Brady Sauvageau of HeaterWrestling.com makes his surprise return to be the Wrestleboys’ mystery tag team partner again in this week’s episode, and friends, you can blame Jolly Rancher for this one.

We talk about tables! We talk about ladders. We talk about chairs! We talk about The Mumps! (aka last week’s TLC PPV). Including the last-minute changes WWE had to make in order for the show to go on, how (Too) Sweet the Finn Balor vs. AJ Styles match was, and how happy Daddy Kurt Angle was to hang out with his Shield Sons.

We also wrap up the second round of The Wrestleboys Classic Tournament with the dream match we saved for last in this round, Shawn Michaels vs AJ Styles, before previewing the third round of the tournament!

You can follow Brady at HeaterWrestling.com or on Twitter @HeaterWrestling.

17: Don’t Go Chasin’ Pinfalls

October 22, 2017

This episode starts with Matt sniffing his microphone and, honestly, we can’t say it ever starts making any more sense than that.

We recap Raw and SmackDown, preview the upcoming Tables, Ladders, & Chairs PPV, discuss the recently released WWE 2K18 video game and its BUCK WILD character creator, then wrap things up by finally getting back into a HUGE Wrestleboy Classic Tournament match up of The Rock vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.

By the end of it we’re all VERY sleepy and you can tell by how delirious we all are.

16: All Skas Go To Kevin

October 15, 2017

FightDad vs. CashDad, inside Bad in a Sad! Two Dads enter; still two Dads leave and just fight outside instead!

Will FightDad sufficiently yell at CashDad’s kids to teach them about Kayfabe? Will CashDad finally land an attack without his opponent moving out of the way at the last moment for the first time in his 20 year career? Or will the sudden appearance of a mysterious hooded figure from FightDad’s past change everything?!

Tune in to find out! In the words of FightDad, “Do it for your kids! Do it for your dad!”

All the ‘boys are back! In town? In black? In the saddle again? To the future, even? Yes. We recap the eventful week in wrestling, especially the Hell in a Cell PPV, the innovative violence of the Usos vs. New Day match, the buck wild way the PPV closed with Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon, and theme of rekindling old friendships across both Raw and SmackDown this week.

15: Nonsensical “USA!” Chants (ft. Matt and Jimmy from That Baseball Show!)

October 7, 2017

1, 2, 3! What’s that? You thought that series of numbers meant the end of a wrestling match? Wrong! It was a strikeout from the USA Pastime Sport, Baseball, this time!

Wrestleboys Esai and Matt were missing in Parts Unknown this week, so Derek and Zack were fortunate enough to be joined by Mystery Tag Team Partners Matt Melton and Jimmy Bowman from That Baseball Show podcast!

We talked about the Baseballboys’ backgrounds with wrestling, the SmackDown Live Event we all attended last week (including seeing Shinsuke Nakamura in person, the glory of Bobby Roode, and the racist trashgoblins also in the crowd), and the rare but incredibly strange crossovers between WWE and MLB.

You can follow Matt and Jimmy on Twitter @thatbbshow and @jimmy_bowman and listen to That Baseball Show on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts.

14: World Wrestling Empathy

October 3, 2017

Matt is leaving us for Parts Unknown (aka, touring with his band), so we decided to record a very quick episode with him before he left.

So here it is! The squash match of episodes! We talk about how we feel about the current state of wrestling and the WWE, and what we think needs to change for wrestling to be better moving forward.

Enjoy Wrestlefriends!

13: No Mercy™ for the Wrestleboys

September 28, 2017

The ‘boys are back! Sorry for the delay between episodes, but life gets busy sometimes, y’all. This week we’re talkin’ a whole lot of No Mercy™ with a dash of Raw and, as always, various asides and tangents.

12: Vince-um’s Nasty Blood

September 16, 2017

Derek won’t stop yelling and we’re so sorry.

We talk about Vince McMahon’s nasty old man blood, Kevin Owen’s good good push, the wonderful finale to the Mae Young Classic, and more from this week in pro wrestling. We then discuss the next second round matchup in The Wrestleboys Classic Tournament, Brock Lesnar vs. Eddie Guerrero!

Don’t forget to go to audibletrial.com/wrestleboyscast to sign up for a free 30-day trial of audible and support the podcast!

11: The King and Us (ft. Logan Finch, aka Marcus “King” Anderson)

September 9, 2017

Esai disappeared to Parts Unknown this week and there aren’t any PPVs or big wrestling things to cover, really, so instead of doing a normal episode, we were graced with the presence of a downright regal guest!

We talked with Logan Finch, (aka Marcus “King” Anderson), current Heavyweight Champion of our very own local indie promotion, Idaho Wrestle Club! We talked to him about his journey so far as an indie wrestler, Idaho Wrestle Club, his exciting plans for the near future and beyond, and most importantly, WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO TOUCH TANAHASHI’S BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!!

You can follow Logan/King Anderson on Facebook and Instagram:

September 1, 2017

10! 10! 10! 10! 10! 10! 10! 10! 10! 10!

9: Big Dog T-Shirts, BAY BAY!

August 28, 2017

The boys are a little sleepy because we had to record on a Sunday morning, but we made it work. We talk about NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, SummerSlam, and the following Raw and SmackDown before finally starting off our second round of the Wrestleboys Classic Tournament with a couple incredible match ups:
Antonio Inoki vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
Bret “The Hitman” Hart vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin

8: Shieldboys Shoulda Smooched (ft. Brady Sauvageau of HeaterWrestling.com)

August 18, 2017

Unfortunately we’re down a Wrestleboy in Matt this week, but we have our first guest ever to fill in for him, Brady Sauvageau from HeaterWrestling.com!

We spend most of our time previewing the 160 hours of wrestling this weekend between NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III and SummerSlam. We also recap the week in wrestling, including Raw, SmackDown, and the BUCKWILD last two days of NJPW’s G1 Climax Tournament. Speaking of that, we take some time to talk about some of the best trilogies and series of matches between two wrestlers in history, and the big differences between WWE and NJPW.

Also, big news! We now have a partnership with Audible! Go to audibletrial.com/wrestleboyscast and sign up for your free trial now and not only will you get a free month of Audible, you will also be helping out us Wrestleboys!

7: Skinny Fat Overrated Dumpsterboys

August 12, 2017

Sorry this episode is a little late, Wrestlefriends! Derek and Zack had to travel to go see a Solange concert, and Zack was too busy crying tears of joy to edit the episode in a timely Fashion (Peaks).

This week, we recap a mostly unexciting (minus innovative office furniture weaponry and Cena’s next-level verbal savagery) week of Raw and SmackDown, then get into some of wrestling’s most SHOCKING moments.

That ends up leading us down a pretty sobering but important discussion of brain injuries in wrestling and how we handle some of the darker aspects of being a wrestling fan, including how to handle when someone you’re a fan of ends up doing something disappointing or downright horrible (warning now that we talk about Chris Benoit more than we ever hope to in an episode, but it was fitting for the discussion).

We finish out the episode with the conclusion of the first round of the Wrestleboys Classic Tournament, starting by going back to decide on the Kenny Omega vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin match that ended in a 2-2 tie. then go through our final four matches, including Esai making the most impassioned argument of the tournament so far, and a lengthy discussion of the all-time greatness by both Wrestleboys in another matchup. The matches this week are:
Bret “The Hitman” Hart vs. Sandman
Kevin Owens vs. Johnny Gargano
David Arquette vs. Chuck Taylor
Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero

Finally, Derek ends the episode by yelling. 😦

6: Vin Balor, Finn Diesel

August 4, 2017

We all have cool new wrestleboy names (brought to you in part by Dr. Pepper memes) now. Say goodbye to Derek, Esai, Matt, and Zack. Say hello to Master Radical, Senator Popper, Lord Taste, and Father Hit.

We talk about the week in wrestling, including Jason Jordan stickin’ up for his Pa, Lesnar leavin’, Finn Balor’s new spooky abilities, woke(n) Hardys,The Small Man Chad Gable picking up The Big Man Rusev, (almost) seeing the actual and literal death of John Cena, and SHINSUKE FREAKIN’ NAKAMURA! (Plus Zack tells everyone that NXT was good since he’s the only one that watched it).

We then talk about how to convince your friends to actually watch wrestling (PLEASE JUST TRUST US THAT IT’S GOOD).

Finally, we get into this week’s matches in The Wrestleboy Classic Tournament, including our most hotly debated match yet! This week’s matches are:
Sabu vs. Kazuchika Okada
Finn Balor vs. Dalton Castle
Brock Lesnar vs. Tetsuya Naito
Kenny Omega vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin

July 28, 2017

Boy howdy is there a bunch of stuff to cover from the last week of wrasslin’ y’all!

We talk about collective prison Sunday’s Battleground PPV made us feel trapped in, a shockingly good week for Raw and SmackDown, Tuesday’s shocking return, the first week of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s aptly-named G1 Climax Tournament, and some of our favorite surprise returns and debuts of all time.

We then close the episode with the second week of matches for our 2017 Wrestleboys Classic Tournament! This week we discussed the next four matches:
Phantasio vs. Antonio Inoki
Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kota Ibushi
CM Punk vs. Hulk Hogan.

4: Ginuine Ponyboys

July 23, 2017

In this episode, we introduce the Wrestleboys Classic Tournament, where we will be debating who would win in a tournament of the 32 wrestlers we selected across all of time, space, notoriety, and ability over the coming weeks. We introduce you to the entire bracket then talk about the BUCK WILD first four match ups:

El Generico vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
AJ Styles vs. Booker T
Daniel Bryan vs. The Rock
Katsuyori Shibata vs. Triple H

We also talk about the week in wrestling, the upcoming Battleground PPV, our thoughts on if CM Punk will ever come back to the WWE and who we would want to see him have matches with, and Ginuwine.

3: Tanahashi’s Beautiful Hair

July 14, 2017

In this episode we talk about a bunch of stuff, but mostly hair. Oh ya, and also wrestler name changes, WWE’s Great Balls of Fire, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Special in USA event, and more hair.

2: Genuine Skiboys

July 6, 2017

In episode 2, we take another swing at introducing ourselves (since our first attempt was lost to the decay of time (and bad audio quality)), and talk about things like essential wrestling terminology, best friends betraying each other, and the time Matt met Goldberg and some random skier at a car dealership.

We then spend the bulk of our time discussing a big week in women’s wrestling and the progression of women’s wrestling over the last few years to where it stands today. Also, more ski talk.

1: Derek Says Kiss Your Mom

June 30, 2017

In the first episode of Genuine Wrestleboys, Derek, Esai, Matt, and Zack talk about some of the current goings on in the wrestling world, have a hefty chat about entrance music in wrestling, and Derek says to kiss your mom.
